Join us on a luxury yoga retreat in Sicily in May or October near the lovely coastal town of Siracusa. We’ll practice yoga by the sea, stay at a 5-star hotel with a private beach, take trips to charming baroque towns, eat amazing Italian food, relax on pristine beaches, and enjoy bike rides along the coast. We offer two yoga class a day, all levels are welcome and we modify poses so everyone can practice at their own pace, we organize activities and dinners but everything is optional, no rules on food, just good healthy meals at wonderful restaurants.

The Yoga

We welcome all yoga levels from beginners to advanced, and Sarah Scott our yoga teacher will modify classes so everyone can practice at their own pace. We keep our groups to around 10-15 people, and many people come on their own, at all ages and from all different backgrounds and countries.

Our morning Vinyasa flow classes are active and will get your heart going, while our evening restorative classes are soothing, with a longer relaxation. Sarah has been teaching for years, she’ll start everyone off at the same level and then adjust the poses depending on the group. But for sure she’ll remind you to constantly listen to your body and go at your own pace – she’s truly great!

Daily itinerary yoga retreat in Sicily in May and October:

8:30–10am:    Vinyasa flow yoga class

10–11am:       Breakfast

11am–5pm:    Free time, beach, town, spa..

5–6pm:           Restorative Yin yoga class

Evening:         Dinner in Siracusa town

Accommodation

We’ll be staying at the Grand Hotel Minareto, a 5* luxury hotel set on a cliff with stunning views across the sea to Ortigia island and Siracusa town. Situated in a quiet location on the coast, yet only 10 minutes drive to the center of Siracusa and close to several nearby towns. We think it’s the best location to enjoy peace and quiet by the sea, yet close enough to explore the area easily.

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a private beach with sunbeds, as well as a high-end spa with a variety of massages and treatments. There are also additional sunbeds by the cliff with wonderful views and many swimming spots along the coast.

You can stay in either Superior Seaview rooms or Classic rooms – up to you. Both have air-conditioning and an interactive LCD TV with free internet access. The Superior rooms have a private balcony with beautiful sea views, while the Classic rooms have all the amenities and comforts of the Superior rooms but are slightly smaller and have a view of the garden or pool (and are less expensive).

The hotel also offers a shuttle service to Siracusa town for those who want to explore.

Location – About Siracusa Sicily

Siracusa and the area around it are considered among the most beautiful places in all of Italy. Ortigia island in Siracusa is the gem of the area, with its majestic baroque buildings and famous squares, lively outdoor market, peaceful sidestreets and wonderful views out to sea from the castle. An evening stroll in Ortigia is truly memorable, as is a dinner in one of its fantastic restaurants – we’ll take you to the best ones in town!

Surrounding Siracusa and Ortigia are several lovely baroque towns, including Noto and Taormina. All have their unique charm, attractions and local food specialties, and are definitely worth a day trip.

There are also several gorgeous beaches around the area, including San Lorenzo and Fontane Bianche just 10 minutes away, with crystal clear water and soft white sand. And for the more adventurous, we recommend a visit to the Vendicari Natural Reserve with even more secluded beaches and wonderful walks along the coast.

Siracusa was once the largest, wealthiest and most powerful city-state of the Mediterranean, and was also considered the most beautiful. This beauty can still be seen in every street corner and around the impressive Greek and Roman ruins which once dominated the city.

Getting To Siracusa

Fly to Catania Airport in Sicily. Several airlines fly to Catania from various European cities. Low cost airlines also have direct flights, including Easyjet. Alternatively, there are many flights with a stopover in Rome.

We can pair you up with others who arrive at the same time, so you can share the transfer, let us know and we can arrange this for you. Also, at time of booking, let them know you are part of our yoga group so you get a preferred rate.

Alternatively you can rent a car and drive to the hotel, which is a good option so you have it to explore the area during the week. People often do this, the drive is approximately 45 minutes and very easy, the roads are good.

Plan to arrive at some point on Sunday, yoga classes will start the next morning. And people will leave at any time on the following Sunday. If you wish to arrive earlier or stay longer, please let us know, we can help arrange that for you with the hotel.
