MY FAVORITE VEGETARIAN RESTAURANTS IN KOH PHANGAN
[social_warfare]First things first, I really love Thai food! But these days I also love fresh food, lots of salads and vegetables, prepared without MSG. And thankfully Srithanu in Koh Phangan delivers just that. You can still get great curries or Pad Thai together with a Singha or Tiger beer, but there are quite a few vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Koh Phangan now catering to the yoga crowd with vegan, vegetarian and detox friendly menus.
These are my favorite vegetarian restaurants in Koh Phangan:
Best food (that comes with a price): Karma Kafe
Karma has a small but delicious menu with all vegan dishes. The prices are expensive for Thailand, but the portions are generous and the quality is very high. Everything I tried was excellent. I especially recommend the „Hola“ and the brownie with coconut ice cream and chocolate sauce dessert.

Best place to relax: Orion Café
I already wrote about my visit at the Orion Healing Center here. The attached restaurant Orion Café serves yummy vegetarian and vegan food, fresh juices and detox-friendly raw options, like a great raw Pad Thai.

Best place for lunch: eat.co
eat.co stands for “eat consciously” and that’s exactly what you get. Delicious, healthy and vegan food. They also have a little shop where they sell protein powder, supplements, yoga wear and jewelry and do events like yoga, ecstatic dance and rebirthing breathwork. I especially loved the Sunday lunch specials.

Best breakfast: The Yoga Retreat Café
After my Ashtanga mysore practice I had breakfast here most days. I loved the raw breakfast bowl with apple, grated coconut, coconut milk (or raw cashew milk), raisins and lots of seeds. They also serve great salads and raw zucchini pasta with pesto that’s delicious. But the highlight is the Indian buffet every Friday evening. It starts at 7pm and it’s fantastic, from the food to the people to the atmosphere, it was always a great evening.

Best Street Food: Panthip Market
Panthip Market is the food market in Thong Sala. You’ll find lots of stalls with a variety of food options from Thai to western food like pizza or even sushi.

Best Thai food with a view: Phangan Cove
At Phangan Cove you get Thai and western food. I love the seating on cushions right next to the beach and the Red Curry was the best I had on Koh Phangan, with lots of vegetables and a very tasty sauce. I don’t think you’ll get anything vegan here, but if you are in the mood for Thai food, this is my first choice.

Best homemade food: my kitchen
I was so happy that I rented a little bungalow with a kitchen and prepared quite a few meals at home. Because home cooked meals always taste best! Here is my recipe for my vegan, gluten-free buckwheat pancakes.
