Homemade chocolate granola is easy to make, delicious and way healthier than any store bought brand. Makes also a great gift for someone you love.

Ingredients for homemade chocolate granola

  • 500g fine oats
  • 50g dried coconut
  • 100g nuts cut into pieces – walnuts, almonds or hazelnut all work, or you can use sunflower and pumpkin seeds if you want to go nut-free
  • Optional: a handful of raisins or gojiberries
  • 2-3 Tbsp cacao
  • 1 Tsp cinnamon (add more if you love cinnamon as I do)
  • 1/2 Tsp. salt
  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 50ml coconut oil (or any other vegetable oil)
  • 4 Tbsp. Maple syrup

Preheat oven to 160° Celsius (=320° F). In a pan boil the sugar with 1/8 liter water until dissolved and take off the heat. Add the chocolate (cut into small pieces), maple syrup and oil to the pan and stir until everything is melted and mixed together.

In a large mixing bowl mix all the dry ingredients together. Add the chocolate oil mixture and mix everything together. I use my hands for this to make sure that all the dry ingredients are well covered. Spread the mixture in a thin layer on a baking sheet and bake for around 40 minutes, until everything’s nicely toasted.

Take out and let cool completely before repacking the granola into mason jars. This chocolate granola can be kept in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 weeks.
