The Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James) is a large network of ancient pilgrim routes stretching across Europe and coming together at the tomb of St. James (Santiago in Spanish) in Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain.

For more than 1,000 years, people have been making important pilgrimages from various parts of Europe to Santiago de Compostela.

Nowadays, some people are inspired by an interest in culture, others do it out of a spiritual conviction, yet others love the chance of adventure or approach it as a personal challenge… but whatever your reason, the St James Way offers an original and different way of sightseeing in northern Spain. You’ll discover a wealth of monuments, charming towns and villages, spectacular natural attractions… If you’re looking for a unique and exciting way to experience Spain, the Way of St. James is definitely among the top options.

Walking the Camino is not difficult – most of the stages are fairly flat on good paths. The main difficulty is that few of us have walked continuously for 10, 20 or 30 kilometres. You’ll learn more about your feet than you would ever have thought possible! With the help of yoga and myofascial release, we will take care of our bodies, so as to feel refreshed and renewed after each stage, and ready to continue the next day!

In this trip, we will start in Santiago de Compostela, and walk all the way to Finisterre, the End of the world, and then on to Muxía. This route is much less crowded than other popular routes like the French Way, so it retains it’s authenticity and it’s possible to walk for many kilometres without crossing a village or meeting a single person!

Every day, after reaching our accommodation for the night, we will have a yoga session entirely designed to stretch the muscles that we have used during our walk, so as to prevent any soreness or fatigue.

Dates: 1-7 September 2019

SCHEDULE:

1st September: we meet in Santiago, check-in in our hotel at 15.00 and have some free time to explore one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. In the evening, the group comes together for a formal welcome around the dinner table, well stocked with all sorts of Galician delicacies

2 September: we start walking in the morning, at around 8.30-9.00 for our first stage, Santiago-Negreira, 22 kms. Upon arrival we will have a yoga session.

3 September: second stage, Negreira-A Picota, 28 kms. Yoga session.

4 September: third stage, A Picota-Corcubión, 28 kms. Yoga session.

5 September: fourth stage, Corcubión-Finisterre, 16 kms. Yoga session.

6 September: fifth stage, Finisterre-Muxia, 28 kms. Yoga session.

7 September: back to Santiago!
