Join Sue and Peter at the Yoga Evolution retreat centre in central Portugal for a one, two or three week yoga retreat.

Our retreat centre is set just below the hilltop village of Amieira, Oleiros, Castelo Branco and we have been holding yoga holidays and retreats for over a decade. You will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself into your yoga practice on our courses by spending time in what we like to call a none yoga commercial setting where we keep yoga authentic. Our guests over the years have always let us know that our space is safe and nurturing and allows you to either spend time on your own or be social. We chose our setting so that we can offer retreats that are our in nature and with thirteen acres of our estate to explore you can feel the healing sounds of Mother Nature all around you. Take long walks through the miles of forest racks or just relax in one of our many hammocks dotted around the centre. We have a wonderfully placed saltwater swimming pool with a backdrop of the stunning views of the mountain ranges.

Accommodation

Choose from single, shared, double or twin rooms. For those who want to have a digital detox then select our eco caravans with amazing views of the Vale Do Bacelo.

We offer many different styles of retreats and have trained and also practice all that we teach on our retreats.

Ashtanga Yoga Weeks

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a set sequence of postures that is taught as a dynamically flowing movement with the breath. You will have the opportunity of learning Peter’s very own sequence of postures that has been transformative for a lot of practitioners. You will get to learn the practice day by day as we add more postures in and build on the day before. By the end of the week you will find that your body and mind feel like they move together using your breath as the guide which develops better concentration and co-ordination. One of the great benefits of the ashtanga practice is learning how your body moves within a gravitational field allowing you to find your comfortable edge without the need to move into painful or injurious positions.

Yin Yoga

Balancing the yang of the ashtanga practice we will be teaching yin yoga sequences of postures for fascia and organ health. During our evening classes we share set sequences of postures used to create a gentle stretching in the physical body. You have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the traditional Chinese meridian theory and how the organs talk to us through our emotional well being.

Mindfulness Meditation

Learn the meditation technique of mindfulness and also learn some very useful meditation exercises that can bring you into the moment and help alleviate a busy over thinking mind.

Evolutionary Yoga

Sue and Peter are the founders of Evolutionary Yoga and have been teaching this style for some time. Evolutionary Yoga draws on both modern and ancient systems of mind, body and spiritual practices.

Shamanic Drum Journey Practice

On the retreat week you will learn how to move yourself into what is termed as; a none ordinary state of consciousness, by using the power of the shamanic drum. You will learn how to identify power animals and how to interpret their meaning into your life experience. We will also look into the powerful healing possibilities of the medicine wheel by understanding the directions and what they represent.

5 Element Animal Qigong & 8 Trigram Qigong

Sue & Peter are both Qigong practitioners and teachers and will be sharing the powerful animal sequences or medical Qigong that enhance and balance your Qi. You will have the opportunity of learning the ancient longevity warm up sequence and much more.

Pranayama Practice

During the week we will explore the benefits of developing a breathing practice and why this is very useful for removing obstacles in our emotional and physical bodies. A complete explanation of the physiology of alternate nostril breathing will be shared allowing you to understand the importance of the breath in our everyday experience.

Peter & Sue are Senior yoga teachers, Evolutionary Astrology, Shamanic practitioners, Qigong Teachers and meditation teachers, they have traveled and trained in many parts of the world and bring a rich blend of the teaching they have learnt into all of their yoga retreats.
