Umbria, Villa Gioianna, Excursions & More

Yoga Classes

We offer a wide range of class choices based on the needs of our students each day. Classes will range from restorative, yin, or yoga nidra when a nurturing practice is called for and more active but gentle yoga class when there is a need to increase our energy. Additionally, experience the wisdom of Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science and learn ways to stay healthy, happy and balanced.

Yoga class and meditation will be at the dedicated yoga platform located in the private woods overlooking the neighboring vineyards, or in the Lotus Belle Stargazer tent, poolside, or among the olives in the olive grove, daily.

Restorative yoga

This is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve phyical, mental, and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body. Each pose is held for a few minutes. While some restorative poses are benefical to the entire body, others target specific parts of the body.

Yin yoga

Long held mostly seated poses which passively to gently tug on the connective tissues of the body. This practice requires no muscular engagement or effort. Each pose is held while attempting to relax the muscles and settle into the bones of the body.

Yoga Nidra

Yogic Nidra also known as yogic sleep, is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

Gentle Yoga Class

This is a gentle practice that moves at a slow and steady pace. Poses are held for short or moderated lengths with props available for assitance. Asanas are mostly floor-based, reclined or seated with a few standing poses.

Trip to Montefalco Textiles and Sagrantino:

Transport to the Montefalco area for a tour of a family-owned textile mill that weaves natural fibers on original 19th century machines, using both ancient historical and modern designs to produce tableclothes, towels, all kinds of bed, bath and kitchen linens and fabrics. Shop at the fabric store with a special discount negotiated by Villa Gioianna. Continue to a family-owned winery for a four-course lunch and wine tasting. Time in the afternoon to stroll through the village Montefalco to visit the shops, wonderful art museum, perhaps partake in some more tasting of the fabulous Montefalco Sagrantino. Optional stop on the way home or the way to the textile mill, time and patience permitting: tasting at a cheese shop where they make, among others, “Intruso” (the intruder), a parmigiano, like cheese that can not be parmigiano because it is made in Umbria. It has a beautiful nutty taste and goes perfectly with our local Umbrian truffle honey.

Gorgeous Assisi: Discover the Spiritual Base of Saint Frances

Transport to the famous hill top town of Assisi, home of Saint Frances and the town jewel of Umbrian hill towns. Enjoy a guided tour of the town, time on your own to enjoy a leisurely lunch or wander on your own through the alleys and byways, or to shop. Time permitting, visit Spello, a charming hilltop town near Assisi with amazing frescoes.

Cetona: from Field to Table

Transport to Cetona and tour the beautiful gardens of a former monastery, now a hospitable healing place. Travel to a nearby small farm in Tuscany that practices permaculture and organic farming. Feast on a vegetarian organic lunch where most of what is served is growned or foraged by owner or produced at nearby farms. After lunch, a tour of the farm with its vivacious owner to learn about their production philosophy; sustainable organic farming, followed by a visit to the nearby outdoor thermal spas before returning to the villa.

Private Healing Sessions

One private healing session of either Reiki, IET or Lifeline

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by the “laying on of hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words REI which means “God’s Wisdom or Higher Power” and KI which means “life force energy”. Reiki is “Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy”.

People experience different things during a session. Some fall asleep and others have a great sense of calm and relaxation. Others may experience a feeling of heat or tingling sensation as the energy flows from the practioner’s hands to them. There is no wrong or right experience since Reiki can only benefit, never harm.

IET (Integrated Energy Therapy) provides a simple and gentle way to open the way of vital life force within the human body and the human energy field, by integrating suppressed feelings from cellular memory and clearing their associated energy blockages.

Integrated Energy Therapy uses the Heartlinks which is a divine offering from the angelic realm to humankind. A heartlink is an energy cord between our heart center and the heart center of another. Heartlinks serve as a tool that fill us to overflowing with integrated energy (the angelic energy of compassion).

What is lifeline? Using Kinesiology to locate source of imbalances, connecting that which is held deep in body mind and spirit subconsciously, we bring it to the awareness of the conscious mind and release it with Infinite Love and Gratitude to realign us to our true nature which is pure love.

What is Kinesiology? Kinesiology uses gentle muscle-monitoring techniques to access the subconscious mind and gain accurate information about your current issues and what is needed to help your body, mind and spirit to restore balance.

Why use Infinite Love and Gratitude? This a hand Mudra (Seal or symbol) meaning “I love you”. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. It is the source of all healing. Your body, mind, and spirit uses this love to heal itself.
