YOGA IN IBIZA – DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF IBIZA

[social_warfare]

Ibiza is where my yoga journey started 9 years ago and it will always have a special place in my heart. When I think of Yoga in Ibiza, I remember wild rosemary growing next to the streets, the pine forests, the blue seas, the hippies on Benirrás beach… I totally am in love with Ibiza!

Yoga in Ibiza - discover the best places for yoga on this magical island

Here are my top 6 reasons why yoga in Ibiza is magical:

1. Ibiza ist really full of magic

A lot of people say that Ibiza has a special energy. Maybe you can feel it too when you visit the coast next to Es Vedra, a small rocky island just a few hundred meters away at the west coast of Ibiza in front of Cala d’Hort. There are quite a few mysteries surrounding the island. Es Vedra is said to be home to sirens and sea-nymphs, who tried to lure Odysseus from his ship in Homer’s Odyssey. Some people say it’s the last visible piece of Atlantis. In any case, it’s a stunning sight best viewed on a hike with http://walkingibiza.com.

2. There are many great restaurants with organic and vegetarian food

There are so many great restaurants to choose from. From cute little beach bars with yummy sandwiches to fancy and trendy restaurants, there is something for everyone. Two of my favorites are the Passion Café in San Jose and La Paloma Café in San Lorenzo.

3. Ibiza Yoga – my first yoga retreat

I visited my very first yoga retreat at www.ibizayoga.com in 2007 and I kept coming back quite a few times after that. Ibizayoga offers yoga holidays for beginners and advanced yogis. Accommodation is in two private villas or cute wooden pagodas, there is one 2-3 hour long yoga class in the morning, a vegetarian lunch and after that you are free to visit Benirras beach which is just a 5 minute walk away, explore other beaches or the cute villages in Northern Ibiza. I loved it every time! Great yoga teachers, nice fellow yogis, yummy food and I really liked the flexible structure.

4. Catch a yoga class with James de Maria in Santa Gertrudis

James de Maria was my first yoga teacher at Ibiza Yoga and he is still my favorite teacher, nobody comes even close. He is now teaching classes in Santa Gertrudis as well as his own retreats. One day I will go back and practice with him again, until then I have to do with his great DVD…

5. Visit an international yoga retreat with Dagmar and Gaudan

There are many yoga retreats happening on Ibiza, but a really special one is with Dagmar Spremberg. I visited her Ibiza retreat in 2013 and had the most amazing time: great yoga classes with Gaudan playing the Hang, a super nice international group of yogis from all over the world, the best vegetarian food ever and a stunning villa. Dagmar and Gaudan return to Ibiza in June 2016 and I wish I could visit again.

6. Ibiza has the first Yoga Bed & Breakfast

Wendy Buttery opened the first Yoga Bed & Breakfast in Ibiza, the Lotus Pad. Isn’t it an amazing idea? You stay in a traditional finca, get a great yoga class from Wendy in the morning and after that a yummy breakfast. Wendy is organizing retreats too, you can check the schedule on her website.

As you can see, Ibiza has a lot to offer to yogis and it’s well worth to explore this sunny island in the Mediterranean sea.
